Scherezade García
Scherezade García is a multidisciplinary artist and fashion illustrator whose work explores migration, history, cultural colonisation, and collective memory.
A co-founder of the Dominican York Proyecto GRÁFICA, García studied at Altos de Chavón before earning her BFA from Parsons The New School and her MFA from The City College of New York. Her early training includes studying with fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez at Altos de Chavón and working with textile designers Bernice Mast and Anya Larkin through the Dana Foundation Work Program at Parsons University.
García’s work has been featured in solo and duo exhibitions at the Art Museum of the Americas, Columbia University, and is included in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, LACMA, El Museo del Barrio, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. García is the recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant (2015) and the Colene Brown Art Prize (2020).
