SHADOW-BAN

Bringing together a collection of artists united in challenging the suppression of illicit and taboo subjects by mainstream platforms, SHADOW-BAN invites the public to reassess how their own morality is shaped by societal pressures by reconsidering the nature of what makes an artwork 'obscene' and the moral judgments which led us here.

Although not a direct attack on the many freedom-curtailing social media platforms that pervade and often dictate our creative output, SHADOW-BAN does serve as a powerful reminder of the collective necessity needed to confront limitations imposed by today's censorship regulations; ensuring that art continues to provoke, inspire, and connect in an increasingly mediated world.

In an era where expression is increasingly surveilled, SHADOW-BAN dives into the hidden and controversial themes that modern art grapples with - ranging from provocative explorations of sex to bold commentaries on political turbulence - becoming a battleground for contested ideas while straddling the increasingly blurred line between the political and the not so, love and hate, suppression and freedom.
