Sabina Sinko in Dries van Noten A/W 20

£1,400.00

A self-portrait by Sabina Sinko, inspired by the Dries van Noten A/W 20 collection. Created whilst in isolation during the Covid-19 global pandemic.

I have chosen the very inspiring collection of  Dries van Noten. In these strange times insects are my biggest inspiration, especially dragonflies and their ability to iridescence on its wings as well as on its body. The magical property of iridescence can also be associated with the discovery of one’s own abilities by unmasking the real self and removing the doubts one casts on his own sense of identity. This again indirectly means self discovery and removal of old inhibitions. The van Noten collection reflects for me just that. It is magical, full of beautiful color reflections, a bit dark, mysterious, a true presentation of this strange period we are in. Just like dragonflies are considered to be an agent of change and presumably symbolic of a sense of self realisation.

Materials: Watercolour and Acrylic on Canvas

Dimensions: 80 x 80 cm
Year: 2020
